Frequently Asked Questions

General

Can traditional saunas be used both indoors and outdoors?

Yes, traditional saunas can be used indoors or outdoors. However, indoor models may not withstand outdoor conditions without special protection, as they often feature more glass and materials less suited for weather exposure. Outdoor saunas are built to handle various climates. Always check whether your specific sauna is rated for outdoor use before installation.

What is the difference between a traditional and infrared sauna?

Traditional saunas heat the air around you, typically reaching temperatures between 150-195°F (65-90°C). They can be used for both dry and wet sauna sessions, where you pour water over hot stones to create steam. This allows for a more intense heat experience with customizable levels of humidity. Infrared saunas, by contrast, use infrared light to heat your body directly, penetrating deeper into muscles and operating at lower temperatures (120-140°F or 49-60°C), making them more comfortable for longer sessions.

Where is the sauna manufactured?

All of the saunas we sell are manufactured in the United States or Canada.

What are the health benefits of using a sauna?

Regular sauna sessions can improve circulation, relieve muscle soreness, reduce stress, support detoxification, and enhance overall well-being. Traditional saunas, in particular, offer high heat that promotes relaxation and improves skin health.

How long/often should I use my sauna?

For most people, a 10-20 minute session is ideal. Start slow if you're new to sauna use and gradually increase time. Using your sauna 2-4 times per week offers great health benefits, though some enjoy it daily. Always listen to your body and stay hydrated. Shipping & Warranty

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping within the continental U.S. is free. For other locations or custom arrangements, please contact us.

How long will it take for my sauna to ship?

Lead times vary by brand, but generally all sauna orders are processed within 5 business days and fully shipped within 5 to 15 business days from the order date.

What type of delivery service is provided?

Saunas are shipped via freight carriers with curbside delivery. The freight company will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment so please provide a phone number upon checkout.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes, all of our saunas and heaters come with a manufacturers warranty. Below is a list of warranties offered per brand:

Recovery Rituals: 7-years limited warranty on Sauna materials. 1-year warranty on heating elements. 5-year warranty on all other sauna heater components.

Assembly

Does the sauna require assembly?

Yes, the sauna arrives as separate parts in a crate and requires assembly.

How difficult is it to assemble?

The sauna is designed for straightforward assembly. Two people can usually complete the setup in 3-6 hours with basic hand tools. Instructions are included.

What tools will I need for assembly?

Basic tools like a drill, screwdriver, and wrench are required. All major components and hardware are provided in the kit.

What are the electrical requirements?

4.5KW - 6KW electric heaters require a 220/240V, 30-amp hardwired connection. Anything beyond 6KW requires a 40-amp hardwired connection.

Sauna Heaters

What's the difference between an electric and wood-burning sauna heater?

Both heaters provide an excellent sauna experience. Electric heaters are more convenient for quick heating, while wood-burning heaters offer a more rustic, traditional experience with the ambiance of a wood fire.

Which size heater do I need?

The size of the heater depends on the size of the sauna. We simplify this by offering saunas with an appropriately paired sauna heater. Most of our saunas come with a powerful electric heater as standard, but sometimes further customization is available.

Can I upgrade the heater in my sauna?

Yes, we offer a range of heater upgrades depending on your sauna model. For many outdoor saunas, you can upgrade to a wood-burning heater, while indoor saunas may offer upgrades to more powerful or digitally-controlled electric heaters.

How do I maintain my sauna heater?

For electric heaters, minimal maintenance is required. You’ll want to occasionally check and clean the sauna stones with warm water and a soft brush to ensure even heating. For wood-burning heaters, regular ash removal and chimney cleaning are necessary to maintain proper airflow and performance.

Usage & Maintenance

Can I pour water on the stones?

Yes! Traditional saunas are designed for both dry and wet use, so feel free to pour water on the heated stones for a steam boost. We recommend adding water in small quantities (~80ml) to avoid overloading the heater.

How long does it take to heat up?

Traditional saunas typically heat up to a maximum temperature of 195°F in 45-60 minutes. Temperatures of ~165°F can be achieved in 30 minutes. Note that heating times are influenced by the type and size of the heater as well as outside temperature.

What sort of maintenance is required?

Minimal maintenance is required. We recommend wiping down the interior with mild soap and water periodically. For outdoor saunas, you can re-apply a wood treatment to the exterior to preserve the wood’s finish.

How much are operational costs?

The cost of running an electric sauna heater depends on your local electricity rates, heater size and how often you use it. Electric heaters typically have low operating costs ($0.15 - $0.30 cents per hour), similar to other household appliances. Wood-burning heaters may vary depending on wood costs, but generally have a lower ongoing cost compared to electric.
